GROUP NEWS: First Undergraduate Student Joins!

Writer's picture: JakeJake

Our group of sickos studying tropical weather in North Dakota is growing! Kellie Thrower is the first undergraduate student that will be working with me at UND, as we look to have a full collection of people power for Year 2.

Kellie is currently a Junior majoring in Atmospheric Sciences at UND, coming into our community after originally majoring in Commercial Aviation. Her interest in tropical weather and climate dates back to her childhood living in South Carolina. Kellie has been highly active since coming into ATSC, filling several roles in the department and broader community. This year, she has served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for UND's Meteorology 1 and Meteorological Instrumentation courses, the Vice President of the UND Student Chapter of the AMS, and a Student Member on the AMS Board on Higher Education, among others.

Kellie will be performing her senior capstone project with our group, with an initial interest in studying tropical cyclogenesis in climate models. Head to the Group page to learn more about Kellie, the rest of the group, and upcoming opportunities to work together!
